Dieting For Optimal Health

We should all know by now there are different kinds of fats and some are better for us than others. The problem with most Western countries is a large proportion of the foods we eat are high in saturated fats (found mostly in animal foods). Too much saturated fat raises bad cholesterol levels which leads to clogged arteries and leaves us in high risk of suffering from a stroke or heart attack.

There are several possible reasons why a person becomes overweight. Usually, the problem stems from a deep-seated emotional or psychological issue that needs to be addressed before one gets on the treadmill. Often, the root of the problem is not related to food at all, in which case overeating is simply a person's way to cope with the emotions and experiences he is dealing with.

Most animals in the wild do not suffer from heart disease, cancers or other degenerative diseases. Their teeth do not rot, and as a youngster I always wondered how it was possible that animals did not have rotten teeth. Now I understand... it's simply because they eat the food at its finest. But us humans we eat our food after the vitamins and minerals have been cooked and processed out of the foods just to make them taste better.

Start with pleasant tasting vegetables and fruits. Carrots, beets, apples, celery, cucumbers, tomatoes and grapes are the best to start. Mix them together or just have them alone. Once you start to enjoy fresh juice then you can explore other combinations and vegetables. If you're anything like me, you probably experiment a bit with different flavors and ingredients not knowing what to expect!

The statin drugs tend to get prescribed more than they need to be and quite often in larger doses than necessary. Another option that could be implemented along with a cholesterol lowering diet would be one of the natural products that are on the market. The natural products can help lower LDL cholesterol and raise HDL cholesterol, which is the "good" cholesterol without all the side effects.

It's impossible to look great when you feel awful if that makes any sense. But if you want to feel great you must keep your body healthy. Yet in today's lifestyles, there is a tendency to eat an overly acidic diet through high intake of refined sugars and carbohydrates, meat proteins and oily fast foods.
